Kenneda’s Response: I am extremely honored to have been awarded the “See Something, Say Something” scholarship. The money from this scholarship will be such a big help with paying for my 2022-2023 school year at Mississippi State University. My parents recently moved to Texas, causing me to be an out-of-state student, raising the yearly cost. I am blessed to have received this scholarship so that I am able to assist my parents with paying for college.
When I was sent the email informing me I had won the “See Something, Say Something” scholarship, I was elated. I immediately called my mom to tell her, and we
celebrated over the phone. I am so thankful that law firms, like the Law Office of Bill Nettles, offer scholarship opportunities.
I am currently a freshman at Mississippi State University, initially majoring in psychology, but changed to criminology to better suit my career goals. However, I plan to minor in psychology so that I have all the tools I need to succeed. My passion is for men and women who have fallen victim to sex trafficking and I want to work with law enforcement to help rescue and rehabilitate the survivors. This scholarship will help me further my education and continue to obtain my degree and soften the financial burden placed on my parents. I am so excited and very grateful.
The See Something Say Something Scholarship was started to give applicants an opportunity to share about a time they spoke up about an injustice they witnessed in their own lives and what resulted from them speaking up. As qui tam lawyers, we believe strongly in addressing injustice, and this scholarship allows us to support students who feel similarly and have taken action based on that belief.
